Mount Rainier National Park
This National Park is a must see for anyone visiting Washington State. Wildflowers and wild blueberries frame many of the trails as sightseers take in the numerous meadows, old growth forests, lakes, and wildlife that abound on Mount Rainier.

Sunrise visitor Center
Open from early July until early October, this gate to Mount Rainier National Park is located the closest to the Elk Run Chalet, approximately 20 minutes away. It is the highest point in the park that can be reached by vehicle.

Scenic Drives
Highway 410 east of the Elk Run Chalet is known as the Mather Highway. This stretch of road is considered one of the more beautiful passes in Washington state. Drivers can enter the Mount Rainer National Park through the Sunrise entrance

Mather Memorial Parkway (Hwy 410)
There is an endless supply of trails off of Mather Memorial Parkway into the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest areas. Many of these trails are less crowded than those found within Mount Rainier National Park, but still boast great views. Parking requires a Northwest Forest Pass. These can be purchased at all ranger stations or by calling 1-800-270-7504, or online at www.naturenw.org

Mountain Biking
A prime selection of advanced trails known as Skookum Flats, Suntop, Ranger Creek, Palisades, Corral Pass, and the Crystal Mountain Northway Trail are accessible in late Spring through Fall.

WINTER Attractions & Activities

Skiing & Snowboarding
The Elk Run Chalet is located just 20 minutes from Crystal Mountain, Washington State’s largest and nationally renowned ski area. Skiers and snowboarders enjoy the slopes in the shadow of Mount Rainier.

Nordic Skiing & Snowshoeing
For crosscountry skiers and snowshoers, Sun Top is a non-motorized sno-park that offers a 5 mile hike to the summit with awesome views of Mount Rainier on a clear day. For families, Huckleberry Creek is an easier, novice trail.

Snowmobiling
Less than 15 miles from the Elk Run Chalet, snowmobilers can enjoy 68 miles of trails at the Pyramid Creek Motorized Sno-Park.

U-Cut Christmas Trees
Starting in mid-November, you can purchase a $10.00 permit at the Snoqualmie Ranger Station in Enumclaw to cut down your own Christmas tree in one of the designated federal forest areas. Many of these areas are a short drive from the Elk Run Chalet.
